Founded in 1976 by dear Carlos (Carlitos) and Carmen Olsen, San Huberto Lodge boasts the undeniable title of pioneer in ranch lodging in Northern Patagonia. Now managed by Ronnie Olsen, his devotion to guests honours Carlos Olsen´s legacy

Located in northern Patagonia, at the foothills of the Andes, San Huberto Lodge is located on a 22,000 hectare cattle ranch homesteaded by the Olsen family in the 1890s. While maintaining their ranching tradition, the Olsens have developed the lodge to offer access to some of Argentina’s finest trout fishing, while also providing other activities such as bird watching, hiking and horseback riding.

San Huberto’s location along the route crossing the Andes from Argentina to Chile through the Tramen Pass, once made it an important outpost for those early travelers expanding the frontiers. The Olsen family tradition of hospitality spans over a century of originally hosting travelers and later adventure lovers in search of unique fishing and hunting experience.

In 1976, Carlos and Carmen Olsen built San Huberto Lodge. San Huberto was first established as a destination for red stag hunters, but because of the Olsen´s fine hospitality and its location on the Malleo River, it soon became one of Patagonia’s most distinguished fishing lodges.

Since its inception, San Huberto has always been family-owned and is now operated by Carlos & Carmen Olsen´s sons Ronnie and Gustavo, and daughter Karin.

Gastronomy

A tradition of distinguished gastronomy at San Huberto Lodge is central to our operation. Authentic recipes, expert staff and the finest local ingredients are key in our special devotion to cooking, which is grounded in the legacy developed Mrs. Carmen Olsen.

San Huberto´s kitchen has become world famous for its succulent and delicious homemade dishes, focused on finely crafted Patagonian & Argentine specialties using the Olsen Family´s traditional recipes. Carmen and Carlos Olsen have bestowed a delicious legacy to their children Gustavo, Karin and Ronnie, who work directly with our chef Luis Torres Chua and the staff, under the kind watching of Doña Carmen. Our cuisine is built around the ranch’s own ingredients from our organic vegetable garden and the free-range beef and lamb we raise on the land. House specialties include the traditional Sunday evening asado, with beef, lamb, the most delicious empanadas, salads from the garden and Argentine Malbec wines. In fact, many of our guests plan their stay to include a Sunday at San Huberto Lodge to enjoy our special argentine style culinary party!

The surroundings of San Huberto offer a complete adventure for nature lovers. Over 20 thousand acres of own land have been carefully preserved for environmental purposes. Our herds are carefully managed under strict sanitary conditions, and graze in open fields of natural grass for fully organic beef. Our cattle share these lands with red deer and wild boar, giving scenes of splendor along meadows and hillsides.

The extremely diverse topography and landscapes supports many outdoor activities including birdwatching, trekking, mountain biking, running, photography, etc... for the enjoyment of anglers and non anglers alike. Please see the "activities" section for more information.
