The Collon Cura River runs through a wind and water eroded valley. Sections of banks are covered by dense willow trees which produces a beautiful green contrast with the dry land.

Deep and slow pools, shallow and flat runs, long cut banks, riffles, a labyrinth of channels and small lagoons provide habitats for densely populated rainbows and browns. Among the smaller fish, there are plenty of trout between 18 and 25 inches to give memorable fights.

Being one of the most versatile fishing rivers in the area, floating as well as wading oppertunities are available to target rainbows and browns surface feeding for inch worms, beetles and dry flies.

In addition to the superb fishing oppertunities, the area boasts a variety of wildlife, including boars, guanacos (patagonian camels), rheas, red deer, eagles, hawks and many other animals to observse in their natural habitats. It is a paradise for bird watchers all year round, with spring and summer offering the best oppertunity to enjoy this activity.

Safaris Outfitters, our fishing operation, has included Collon Cura Lodge in our fishing itineraries, for it gives a wonderful chance to stay just meters from the main river and the best pools. Four double rooms, a great gastronomy proposal and an extraordinary surrounding environment, plenty of wildlife including rheas, swans, flamingos, eagles, wild boars, guanacos, red deer, eventually some puma and much more, are the guarantee of a great stay.

The generous and friendly assistance of Malu and Nano, hosts and managers of the ranch, makes of this ranch one of our choices for overnight beside San Huberto Lodge, our headquarters.
